Description

Product Characteristics:
Casein kinases are operationally defined by their preferential utilization of acidic proteins such as caseins as substrates. It can phosphorylate a large number of proteins. Participates in Wnt signaling. Phosphorylates CTNNB1 at 'Ser-45'. May play a role in segregating chromosomes during mitosis.

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm, Nucleus

Synonyms: Casein Kinase 1 alpha phospho Y294, p-CK1A phospho Y294, Casein kinase 1 alpha 1, Casein kinase I isoform alpha, CK1, CK1A, CKI alpha, CKI-alpha, CKIa, Clock regulator kinase, Csnk1a1, Down regulated in lung cancer, HLCDGP1, KC1A_HUMAN, PRO2975.

Target Information: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin gene family. The type II cytokeratins consist of basic or neutral proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains coexpressed during differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues. This type II cytokeratin is specifically expressed in the spinous and granular layers of the epidermis with family member KRT10 and mutations in these genes have been associated with bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma. The type II cytokeratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q12-q13. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
